large sugar skull repeat fabric

http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/3577007 i made a larger print of the sugar skull repeat that i designed for a fabric contest a month ago (in retrospect, i should have entered this larger print version, but oh well.) you can see more of the hand drawn goodness in this larger print. i am busy working away at holiday goodies right now, but on my to-do list is a test project making this fabric into a long sleeve jersey shirt. i'm not very good with stretch fabrics so we shall see how that goes. i hope it turns out though, i really love these sugary guys.

http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/2300148 i made a cut-and-sew fabric pattern to convert-a-shirt into an adult sized princess experience. i was originally motivated to create this design because i want to wear it to our breakfast in cinderella's castle when we go to disney world and have my picture taken with snow white. i plan to pair this shirt with a pair of yellow shorts to complete the look. then i saw that spoonflower was having a fabric contest to create a costume for either an adult or child on a yard of fabric = perfect timing! so then i added on the bow accessory and apple purse. the contest starts today - go here to vote for me, convert-a-shirt by kfay: http://www.spoonflower.com/contests/216

super fun sleep masks

http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/2346222 i made a new cut and sew pattern fabric on spoonflower. alex just loves using sleep masks so i wanted to create some unique ones with her help. she sketched out some ideas and helped brainstorm and we came up with this fun set of face sleep masks. you can back them with different fabric to end up with 8 sleep masks or mix and match these to create 4 reversible sleep masks. they are easy to make and fit on a quarter of fabric.

cartoon bow headbands

i am working on a project that includes a cartoony bow headband. i'm still working on that project and tweaking it, but in the meantime i made a set of different colored cartoon bows on a quarter of fabric: http://www.spoonflower.com/designs/2332256 i made all of these out of cotton jersey knit because the project i'm working on includes a t-shirt and i wanted the bow to match. the bows would work great out of any cotton fabric really. for these bows, i simply cut them all out; sewed fronts and backs together; pressed flat and closed the seams. since i wanted to make them into headbands (you could make barrettes or belts or attachments to anything, etc.) i stitched on some elastic for the headband part; covered that with a felt circle; and finally attached a non-slip strip to the felt circle. the red bow on red glitter elastic is for me and the rest i gave to alex. she loves them and all her friends are requesting headbands now (and want to know how i did that)! one of her friends even told me i was "like a really good artist." haha, i thought that was sweet.

pencil case fabric contest on spoonflower

http://t.co/nxNstNGkUM i haven't had time to enter too many of the fabric contests on spoonflower in a while, but i really like the cut and sew contests so i had to try. so i created this "You Foxy Thing" pencil case. it's really simple to make yourself and it fits on a quarter fabric. i gave my sample to Alex, but it's such a perfect size i think i have to make another for myself. and i want to design more, so we'll see when and if i can fit that into my schedule. but for now, i'm in this week's fabric contest http://t.co/nxNstNGkUM so be sure to vote!
